What are writing prompts?

Writing prompts, or more specifically 'creative writing prompts,' are little thought-provoking blurbs that are meant to inspire a piece of writing.

 

How do I respond to the prompt?

Pick a prompt that appeals to you (if you'd like to pick a prompt I wrote, hover over 'Writing Prompts', then scroll to the listed prompts and start reading!), then I would recommend starting by writing about the scene, character, etc that the prompt makes you think about. Start off simple, and do not worry about grammar or 'amazing-ness' of your writing. Just write.
